Exegesis

This blog is created for Web Communication 101 that I am taking now in Curtin University at Sarawak Campus, for the Assignment 3-Web Presence. I choose to use one of the free Web 2.0 platforms to do create my web presence. Blog is an online base services publication application that is free for users to publish and modify their content, and it contains features of Web 2.0 (O’Reilly 2005). The topic for this blog is about skin care and experiences on skin care in my personal life. The reason to choose this theme is I love skin care and the interest on doing skin care experiment by testing different brand of products. The central node for this web presence is Blogger (Blogger, n.d.). In this web presence, I have fully used in the contributing nodes that are freely provided on Internet. There are Facebook, Twitter, Facebook, Linkwithin, Live Traffic Feed, Mix pod, blog roll and also CBOX. I will explain one by one below.

First of all, the reason to use Blogger as a platform is because I am more familiar with Blogger, as I used the same platform to record and publish my personal online diary (❤ LUNA ❤). A brief history about Blogger, it is launched by Pyra Labs since 1999 and it offered about creating a simple blogging platform (Gunelius, 2009, p.9) It is one of the famous blogging platforms on the Internet. The other famous blogging platforms are Wordpress, Typepad and so on (Gunelius, 2009, p.9) As Blogger is free for users to register, the features provide by Blogger gives the freedom for users to customize their own blog. In this blog, I choose a pink colour template, the reason is because pink is my favorite color. The template is simple with a header picture, which is a picture of me with skin care product. The header includes picture and my blog name.  The colour chosen in my blog are mainly pink, red and also purple. The reason to put my blog as simple as tidy is because I want my reader to focus on the content of the blog.
Besides, I have included a tab under the header. Which is a brief intro about myself, the blog, and also weekly tips that I provide in every post. I put tips at the bottom of every posts, so it is easy for my readers to read through on it.

As mentioned above, I have a few contributing nodes used in this blog. The main contributing nodes that I use is Facebook. Facebook is a social networking that brings people around the world to communicate and connect with each other. I use this social network to share my blog with my friends. I also encourage my Facebook’s friends to visit and comment on my blog. I also putt the Facebook ‘Like’ button on every entry on my blog to let my readers like and share the blog on Facebook. Moreover, another contributing node is Twitter. Twitter has the same purpose for me to use it for sharing my blog in my Internet social network. I also have added in the Twitter share icon in every post in my blog, it is a convenient way for my readers to share my blog to their friends on Twitter. Beside that, I also post Twitter updates, so that my readers can follow me on twitter and view what I have “twitted” with my friends.

Furthermore, another contributing node is YouTube. I share the video from YouTube that is related to my weekly topic. It makes my blog more interesting and sharing the information with my readers too.
Beside the three main contribute nodes, I have put some extra contributing nodes, which are Linkwithin, Live Traffic Feed, Mix pod, blog roll and also CBOX. Linkwithin is a free feature that appears at the end of each post and show related link in my blog. It is a convenient way for my readers to click on other posts that they are interest in. The Live Traffic Feed for me is to check where do my readers come from when they read my blog. Mix pod is a music playlist and the sound and video are link from Youtube. The music I choose for is relaxing music type. It can relax my readers when viewing my blog and give a comfortable feeling to my readers. The blog roll is the feature from Blogger itself. I have putt the blog links of my classmates. It can update me who have posted a new post in their blog. Last but not least, the CBOX is a free chat box that provides a chatting space for me and my readers. My readers can leave their massage and I will reply as soon as possible. Besides the contributing nodes that I state above, I also put some hyperlink in my blog post for the readers to link directly to the sources.

After creating this blog, I fully understand on how Web 2.0 works on blogs and it is really convenient for users and also readers to communicate and interact with each other, and I have successfully establish a blog that can share my interest and knowledge with my readers.
